I'm sure that nearly everyone has heard of the bl game/ anime DRAMAtical Murder by Nitro+Chiral and all of the controversy that comes up about it. When Youtube sensation Pewdiepie held a competition with DRAMAtical Murder as one of the options the comment section went mad. Though, that may be old news to many people. The first DRAMAtical Murder came out on March 23, 2012 and the second game DRAMAtical Murder re:connect was released on April 26, 2013.  There was an anime of the visual novel airing new episodes every week from July 6, 2014 to September 21, 2014. Recently the DRAMAtical Murder community (me included!♡) was pumped for the new release DRAMAtical Murder re:code which came out on October 30, 2014.


If you are not familiar with DRAMAtical Murder or what it is about. Each of the main character's has their good and bad routes with Aoba. So their are many different story lines to follow (not all at the same time of course!) The main character is the blue haired protagonist Aoba Seragaki who has a secret that even he doesn't remember. Aoba was raised by his grandmother Tae after the death of his "parents." Inside of Aoba is his desire. This desire is often known as Shiroba ("Shiro" meaning white and "oba" referencing to his name.) Though, he only appears in Koujaku's bad ending. Another name for Aoba is Sly Blue, which is the name he takes while in Rhyme (a fighting simulation game where you battle other people in tournaments.) He has an allmate named Ren who is his life long friend who knows Aoba better than anyone else. Aoba has a secret power that gets him into dangerous situations. He can get into peoples minds with his voice and in a sense "destroy" them. He also had a past that he could not remember. He was a Rhyme god, no one could win against him. Not even Noiz

Ren is Aoba's best friend. Which many people find weird since he's his allmate. An allmate is a robotic companion for humans. They do everything for them. Though, Ren is a little more than an allmate. He is a part of Aoba. When Ren's circuits were damaged in his route he is placed back inside of Aoba's mind. This is where Aoba finds his love for Ren. Ren eventually after some time gets a physical body not in Aoba's head. This body happens to be a present from Aoba's dead brother Sei. Though, I don't want to give the people who haven't read DMMD too many spoilers!

Sei is Aoba's twin brother. They do not actually have parents, they were actually created in a lab experiment. When they were born they had no pigment in their shin and they were connected by their hair. This connection by their hair makes it have feeling. Meaning that touching their hair could physically hurt them. Both of them have special abilities. Aoba has his voice and Sei can control people with his face (his looks.) He does not have a route but he is important. Sei is detained by the antagonist Toue. Toue is in a sense a mad scientist. He is trying to use the twins powers together to take over the world. Sei sacrifices himself to save Aoba and the rest of the world.

Koujaku is Aoba's childhood friend who grew up to be a hair stylist and most definitely a lady's man. Though, truthfully he wants nothing to do with the ladies! Koujaku has a terrible past. His father was the head of the Yakuza (pretty much the Japanese mafia.) Koujaku's father wanted him to get completely tattooed by the tattoo "master" Ryuuhou. Ryuuhou is a very cruel character. The tattoos that he gives are all cursed. So when he tattooed Koujaku he went mad. Koujaku slaughtered his mother, who was very important to him, and many other people. This crazy state that Koujaku goes into only effects him when he loses control of his anger. Aoba must go into his mind and destroy these bad thoughts so that Koujaku can come to terms with himself and live happily with Aoba. Koujaku also has an allmate. His allmate is Beni, who is a little red bird.

Noiz is the "meme king" or "hot topic trash" as the fandom calls him. He also happens to be my favorite character in the game!!! ♡ Noiz has no feeling of of pain or pleasure on his body. He cannot experience what normal people can when they touch things. This made him grow up bitter. His parents had him locked in a room because he kept hurting people and not knowing it. Noiz ended up leaving his parents in Germany to go to the island of Midorjima where they all live. Noiz is really into rhyme. He is known in Rhyme for his green bunny mask and his army of fighter bunnies. Noiz is part of a Rhyme gang called Ruff Rabbit. Noiz believes that no one can understand him. No one except Aoba that is. Aoba breaks through Noiz's hard shell after Noiz hunts him down wanting a rematch in Rhyme after Aoba beat him in his forgotten past. Aoba later in the story, in the good route, gets inside of Noiz's mind and restores his feeling. After this Noiz is in the hospital for a long amount of time where he and Aoba elope. Then Noiz vanishes back to Germany. After Noiz returns he announces to Aoba that he has changed his ways and that he wants to take Aoba back to Germany with him to his mansion.

Clear is another one of the great characters in the game. Clear is kinda confusing to follow because he is an energetic ball of happiness. Though, there is a lot about himself that he doesn't even know for the longest time. Clear is actually a robot who was created by Toue. A man who Clear calls his grandfather takes him in and teaches him to be good. Clear has a beautiful singing voice that can help for the better. The song that he normally sings is The Jellyfish Song Though, on the other hand all of the other models of robots that came from Toue have singing voices that brainwash all of the people in Platinum Jail. Most of clears route he is wearing his gas mask. Clear wear this because his grandfather told him that he wasn't like other people and that he must not show his face (this is because of the other models with his same face.) The only thing that makes him distinctly different from the other models is that Clear has two moles under his bottom lip. Clear also carries around a clear umbrella, though he doesn't really know why. Through most of the game Clear refers to Aoba as "Master" or "Mastaaaaa." Eventually Clear gets more intimate with Aoba and asks him if he can call him by his name.

Mink is the most criticized character in DRAMAtical Murder. Mostly because he is really rough and because of the situation in the bar in Platinum Jail. Also he is the leader of Scratch, which is a prison gang. Though, Mink has had a hard time. Mink came from a native tribe and one day Toue came to visit. His entire family was killed by Toue. All he had left was his allmate Tori, who is a large pink bird, but Mink doesn't really seem to care about Tori. Mink wishes to get revenge and kill Toue for murdering all of his family and friends. He wants to use Aoba and his voice to do this. Mink tries to break Aoba he forces him to do vulgar things to him. He abused Aoba beating him to a pulp. Though, in the end of Mink's route Aoba still ended up falling for Mink. Aoba hunted all over until he found him.

Trip and Virus are simply just called "garbage" by the DMMD fandom. They are in cahoots with Toue and are trying to help him take over everything. They are a part of Morphine. Morphine is a dangerous gang that most people don't even believe in. They kidnap people and try to brainwash them to turn them into an army. There is a route for Trip and Virus in DRAMAtical Murder re:connect.

Mizuki is actually a lot of peoples favorite character. He owns a tattoo shop called Black Needle and is the leader of the Rib gang Dry Juice. He is feared by a lot of people. In the first DMMD Mizuki and his gang were all kidnapped and brainwashed by Morphine. Aoba was not able to save Mizuki's memories so he had memory loss when Aoba destroyed the evil inside of him. He finally gets his own route in DRAMAtical Murder re:code.

Tae Seragaki is probably the most bad ass of all of the grandma's out there. She was a scientist for Toue until she found out about his plans. She left working there and took Aoba in after his "parents" died.

Toue is the antagonist of the story. He is insane and wants to brainwash everyone and rule the world.
